For many professionally successful women, finding the time and energy to prioritize personal health can feel like an impossible puzzle. Between demanding careers, family obligations, and the endless hum of daily life, fitness often takes a back seat. When these women finally decide to reclaim their health, the instinct is often to overhaul everything overnight. But according to Courtney, the founder of Butters Built, this all-or-nothing mindset is exactly what leads to failure.

In an exclusive interview, Courtney shared her unique, holistic approach to 1:1 coaching, explaining why true accountability and a customized, phased approach are the real keys to sustainable wellness.

The Burnout Trap: Why Less is More

When highly driven women decide to get back into a fitness routine, their ambition can sometimes be their own worst enemy. Psychologists and behavioral experts note that attempting to build multiple habits simultaneously often leads to cognitive overload and burnout, making it difficult to sustain any new routine. Courtney sees this pattern frequently in her practice.

"I work with professionally successful women, because they are so driven and confident, they have a tendency to go for broke, doing everything all at once," she explains. "By taking on such significant change, it can be overwhelming and lead to burnout. Which inevitably, feels like failure when they can't continue with all those changes when live throws them that first curve ball."

Instead of a massive lifestyle overhaul, Courtney advocates for a much simpler strategy. "My cheat sheet? Take on one thing at a time," she advises. By focusing on feasible, incremental changes, her clients build habits that can withstand the unpredictability of a busy life.

A Holistic Approach Born from Personal Experience

Courtney’s coaching philosophy isn't just based on theory; it was forged through her own health struggles. For years, she battled a combination of autoimmunities, hormonal imbalances, and chronic stress. Medical research shows that chronic stress can exacerbate autoimmune symptoms, creating a vicious cycle of inflammation and fatigue.

Initially, Courtney followed the standard advice for her conditions: rest more, work out less, eat less, and focus strictly on the micronutrient density of her food. However, this fragmented approach fell short.

"It wasn't until I started approaching my fitness as a holistic experience that I started to see results," she reveals. "So that's how I approach coaching. I meet you where you are and I plan your program around what your whole system needs: exercise, nutrition, routine, family, goals."

At $375 per month, her 1:1 coaching program is designed to provide what most standard training packages lack. "And then I hold you accountable. And that's my magic. I don't hold back. You get from me what you asked for in the first place, a proper plan and true accountability."

The Butters Built Method: Establishing a Baseline

So, what does the beginning of this journey look like? For a new client, the first month is less about intense workouts and more about deep evaluation.

"We spend the first 2 weeks just truly evaluating where you are NOW, and what you've already done," Courtney says. "I call it determining your baseline."

During this phase, she digs into the details of her clients' lives. She looks at what has worked in the past, what fits into their current schedule, and what their family needs. She also assesses their familiarity with nutrition, their comfort level with measuring food, and any anxieties they might have about the scale or body measurements.

"And then given all those things, I evaluate," she explains. "I build a customized plan that takes all of these variables into account. This plan, the Butters Built Method, is designed for you to see sustainable results. We find what is feasible for you to implement today, and then we execute it to perfection. And when that feels habitual, we add in the next phase."

It’s Never Too Late to Start

A common barrier for many women is the belief that they have waited too long to get in shape. Courtney strongly pushes back against this narrative, proving that age is not a limiting factor. Clinical studies consistently demonstrate that resistance training in older adults can significantly improve bone mineral density and metabolic health, and Courtney sees these benefits firsthand.

"I have clients in their late 60s and early 70s that had never lifted weights," she shares. "And after 6 months with me they have a whole exercise regimen they're following. They're seeing their bloodwork numbers improve, their muscle density increase, and they feel more energized. But most importantly, they feel more powerful."

Her advice to anyone feeling hesitant is straightforward and empowering: "Quite honestly, the only thing stopping you is YOU. Any improvement helps, but if you truly feel like you're too far gone, get help. That way whatever effort you ARE putting in produces results rather than frustration."

A Vision for the Future

While many fitness entrepreneurs are obsessed with scaling their businesses and building massive empires, Courtney’s vision for the future of Butters Built is refreshingly grounded.

"This might not be a PC answer, but I want to be exactly where I am," she admits. "I want to continue offering white-glove service to my handful of clients. I am extremely selective about which clients I take on, not because I don't want to grow, but because I genuinely love working with clients and I want to continue doing just that, not outsource my passion to other coaches."

For Courtney, the ultimate reward isn't found in a massive roster of clients, but in the profound transformations she witnesses in the women she works with closely. "I love watching the lightbulb go on in women that realize they don't have to avoid food," she concludes.

Through her meticulous, empathetic, and highly personalized approach, Courtney is proving that fitness doesn't have to be an overwhelming burden. By taking it one step at a time, busy women can finally build a foundation of health that lasts a lifetime.
